Kanda Completes Ferry, QUEEN
CORAL PLUS
Kanda
Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. completed construction of QUEEN CORAL PLUS,
a passenger/car ferry of 6,000GT, for the co-owners, Japan Railway
Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT) and Marix
Line Co., Ltd. of Kagoshima, Japan, on November 27, 2008. The
ships for sale, just
like this one is the replacement for the QUEEN CORAL (built in
1993). The new ferry entered service between Kagoshima and Okinawa
on Dec. 3, 2008. The PLUS of the new ship name stands for “Pleasant,
Luxury, and Utility Ship,” and the ship is classed as the barrier-free
type. The QUEEN CORAL PLUS measures 143.3m in length and 21.6m
in breadth. Two 9,000ps main engines can achieve a service speed
of 21.4 knots. The ship can accommodate 470 (maximum 800) passengers
and carry 26 12m trucks, 44 passenger cars, and 246 containers
(238 10ft and eight 20ft containers).
The ship is really large nad had overal length of 143.30 meters,
beam of 21.60 meters and draft when the ship is fully loaded of
6.25 meters. The vessel has gross tonnage of 5,910 gross tons
and deadweight of 3,537 metric tons. The main engine of the ferry
is JFE 12PC2-6V, which gives for is ability to realize speed of
21.4 knots. Ferries are usualy different than cruise
ships, and other sailing vessels like yachts,
but actually the pricipal specifications to almost all ships is
