Completes Ferry, QUEEN CORAL PLUS
Kanda Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. completed construction of QUEEN
CORAL PLUS, a passenger/car ferry of 6,000GT, for the co-owners,
Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT)
and Marix Line Co., Ltd. of Kagoshima, Japan, on November 27,
2008. The ship is the replacement for the QUEEN CORAL (built in

Techno Superliner Ogasawara
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES)
has launched the first commercial marine transport based on
Techno Superliner (TSL) technology at MES Tamano Shipyard. The
Super Liner Ogasawara, a 14,500GT passenger/ cargo ship, is
the next generation of high-speed marine transports. The ship
will enter service on the Ogasawara route extending for 1,000km
between Tokyo and Chichi Jima of the Ogasawara Islands. The

passenger/car ferry CYPRIA SOYA
Naikai Zosen Corporation has completed construction
of the CYPRIA SOYA (HN: 729), a 3,600GT passenger/ car ferry for
Heart Land Ferry Company headquartered in Hokkaido, Japan, at
the Setoda Works. The ferry has the two-shaft and two-rudder propulsion
and maneuvering system, and cars are accommodated on the continuous
car decks by loading through the stern ramp door. The bulbous
bow and split stern are employed for increased propulsion efficiency.
Fin stabilizers are used for decreasing ship rolling, and the
bow thruster and Schilling rudder are used to facilitate the berthing

luxury passenger and vehicle ferry, Kiso
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has completed
construction of the Kiso, a 35,000 GT-class luxury passenger and
vehicle ferry for the owner Taiheiyo Ferries Co. Ltd. The ferry
can be missed with some of the small cruise ships,
but actually is too away from them. The ship was designed and
built at the MHI Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works, and delivered
to the owner on Jan. 5, 2005. The Kiso is now engaged in the regular
service in Nagoya, Sendai and Tomakomai route. The ship is the

completes passenger/car ferry Ise Maru
Naikai Zosen Corporation, one of the largest companies for building
of cargo and cruise ships and yachts,
has completed the 2,200GT passenger/car ferry, Ise Maru (HN: 686),
for the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency
(JRTT) and Isewan Ferry Co., Ltd. at the Setoda Shipyard. The
ferry is now servicing Toba, Mie Pref., and Tokoname, Aichi Pref.
where the newly-opened Central Japan International Airport (so-called
